This collection of records includes graduation award files, commencement programs, class profile brochures, and some photographs housed on floppy disks.

These records comprise academic procedures, policies, standards, calendars, curriculum, faculty rules and policies, faculty meeting minutes (1986-1989), and other administrative files. Also included are informational packages given to accepted students.

The Dean's Papers date back to 1912, which was eight years after the first dean was appointed, and go forward to the early twenty-first century. These records document the growth of the administration from a time when there was one dean, a part-time clerical assistant and a faculty of five, to a time when there are four deans, three secretaries and a faculty of more than fifty; from a time when there were two hundred students, to the 1970s when there are more than a thousand students. Although the earliest extant document is dated 1912, substantial retention of administrative records did not begin until the late 1930s.

The Post-Conviction Assistance Project (P-CAP) is a law student advocacy organization; its members assist and provide counsel to inmates incarcerated in Virginia. Some important P-CAP projects with records in this collection include the DNA class action and the death penalty projects. Other records include administrative files, project files, case files, ombudsman files, and correspondence.

The office files of the Virginia Law Review were routinely transferred to the archives between 1978 and 1985. The records consist primarily of administrative correspondence and other materials from the office of the editor-in-chief, and correspondence with writers of articles. There is also some documentation related to the organization and function of law student organizations.

This collection includes at least two copies of every issue of the Virginia Law School Report. Issues of the Report contain articles that highlight the work of students, faculty, and administrators at the University of Virginia School of Law. Also, between 1977 and 1990, the annual reports for the University of Virginia Law School Foundation were published here.

The records of the Virginia Tax Review consist of administrative files related to the publication of the journal. The archives retained contracts with the authors, two files of correspondence with Mortimer M. Caplin, an SBA file with a handbook and guidelines, and the course syllabus for the Alternative Dispute Resolution class taught by William L. Waddell.
