Background

Scope and content:

The Post-Conviction Assistance Project (P-CAP) is a law student advocacy organization; its members assist and provide counsel to inmates incarcerated in Virginia. Some important P-CAP projects with records in this collection include the DNA class action and the death penalty projects. Other records include administrative files, project files, case files, ombudsman files, and correspondence.

This collection is stored offsite and many restrictions apply to its contents. Researchers should contact the Special Collections archivist.

Acquisition information:
The Post-Conviction Assistance Project transferred their records to the archives in 1985, 1987, and 1994.
