Tennis Racquet Bag of Giles Buckner Cooke, 1900

One brown canvas tennis bag that once belonged to Giles Buckner Cooke, class of 1923 at the College of William and Mary. The bag was made by The Horace Partridge Co. in Boston, Massachusetts sometime before 1900. The inside pouch is inscribed with "Ann Dorsey Cooke, 502 Yarmouth Road, Towson, Maryland." There is another smaller pouch that is inscribed with "Ann Dorsey Cooke, Roland Park Country School." The bag is approximately 28 in. x 10.5 in. The bag is in fair to poor shape with a few holes in the bottom and evidence of heavy fading all over the bag. Gift of Anna Dorsey Cooke Allison, class of 1959. Located in Rec Obj S3. UA 2009.370

Tercentenary Bookmarks (UA 2002.050), 1993 Artifacts Box 519

3-machine-embroidered cloth bookmarks, 9in. long. Two of the bookmarks are in a green brochure, which details the history of William and Mary on the inside left sleeve. It bears the College seal, a depiction of the Wren Building, and the words "College of William Mary 1693-1993." There is a short gold tassel hanging from the bottom. Tercentenary Buttons (UA 1999.034 a, b, c, d), 1993 Artifacts Box 517

4-buttons (two identical pairs), 2.25in. in diameter. Two of the buttons have a white background with green and gold stars and the words "Happy Birthday 300 William Mary." The other two have a yellow background and read "Busch Gardens Williamsburg, VA. William and Mary 300 Birthday Bash Saturday October 23, 1993. Sponsored by Anheuser-Busch Inc." Tercentenary Plaster Relief Plaque (UA 2011.553), 1993 Artifacts Box 533

One circular white plaster relief plaque with raised center and image. Design features the Wren Building weathervane with the '1693' banner and the text '1993' over the arrow. The weathervane pole extends downward through the number '300' in large text. Plaque is 12.125in. in diameter and 1.5in. thick. Plaque is in good overall condition with minor bumps and indentations on the surface. The back features minor discolorations and exposed wire pieces. Transferred from University Development (UA 126).

Tools, equipment, and supplies originally created for the preparation of materials made from fibers and the preparation of woven fabrics. Also included in this category are tools, equipment, and supplies used for manufacturing objects from fibers or cloth. This classification includes tools specific to the preparatoin of fibers, such as hatchels and cotton gins, but excludes tools, such as sheep shears and cotton balers, that are related to sources of fibers.
