Collections

This collection includes material related to the Coalition of Black Faculty and Administrators (CBFA), a faculty organization at Old Dominion University. The objective of the organization is to promote the recruitment and retention, promotion and tenure, and greater involvement of African American faculty and administrators in college life. The coalition also works to provide networking opportunities and a forum for African American issues. Included in the collection are minutes and agendas, correspondence, both personal and professional, and financial reports of the organization. Newspaper clippings related to African American issues, reports on the progress of equal opportunity and affirmative action at Old Dominion University, elections for association officers, and newsletters produced by the CBFA are also present.

This collection contains minutes, agendas, proposals, committee records and other material related to the Faculty and University Senate at Old Dominion University. While the bulk of the material is from the University Senate, there is some material from the Faculty Senate as well.

The Madison Friendship Lodge Grand United Order of Odd Fellows collection (1880-1937; 3 cubic feet) contains minute books, financial records, correspondence, event programs, proceedings, a cemetary plot, a framed faternal collar, a fraternal apron, and a flag. Loose manuscripts, meeting minutes, and notes make up the remainder of the collection.

The ODYSSEY records (2000-2013; 2 cubic feet) consist of directories, meeting minutes, program planning, by-laws, member lists, news clippings, photographs, president's notebooks,folio scrapbooks, and miscellaneous printed materials.

Manuscript minutes book of the Sons of Staunton African American Fraternal Lodge in Staunton, Virginia. Containing 154 pages of manuscript in pencil, dated 1914-1919. The Sons of Staunton Lodge no.1833 Grand United Order of Odd Fellow, an African American masonic lodge based in Staunton, Virginia. Each entry lists the officers present, the amount of dues paid, and any other business attended to during the meetings. Also included is a 1927 letter on letterhead of the King Harem Lodge, a sister lodge based in Staunton, two leaves from a 1920's minutes book, a rental receipt for a post office box by the King Hiram Lodge, and a church program from Mount Zion Baptist Church in Staunton, Virginia, Sunday September 12, 1948.

This collection contains minutes and membership directories for the Town-N-Gown, an organization dedicated to fostering good relationships between Old Dominion University, national defense forces (ex. Navy), and the Hampton Roads community.
