Background

Scope and content:

The Public Relations Photo Collection, 1965-1985 contains photographic prints, plus some slides and negatives from files found in in McConnell Library and photos taken by students working for different publications. Organizations associated with these photographs are the Beehive yearbook and the Highlander Band.The photographs in Boxes 1-5 of this collection were housed in a file cabinet in McConnell Library, and contains photographs from the Radford University Public Relations from approximately 1965-1980. The photographs consist primarily of promotional photos taken to accompany press releases. Examples include scenes of campus, student organizations, ensembles, performers, dignitaries, or guest artists who came to campus.

The photographs in Boxes 6-7 are photos from 1977 and 1979, and contain photos used for the Beehive yearbook and possibly other student publications. Photos in Boxes 6-7 were taken by students working for different student publications, and reflect students' perceptions of life at Radford in 1977 and 1979. Box 7 includes a file of Highlander Band photos and a file of assorted Highlander band information. The remaining boxes are from different years and contain various photographs. The photographs were in housed in labeled file folders (Academics), and have retained the original file order and folder labeling.
