This collection consists of one 4"x 5.75" unidentified black and white photographic portrait, circa 1900, mounted on 6"x9" paperboard. Penciled at the bottom right of the photograph on the paperboard is "Lea."

Biographical / historical:

The subject of the portrait, an elderly African-American woman sitting outside in front of a closed door, wearing a dark dress with white collar and white head wrap, is unidentified. The caption on the verso in an unidentified hand reads "Mrs. Swan/ex-slave from Leesbug, Va/ Assoc with the Dickinson family."
