Background

Scope and content:

This collection includes a early 20th century manuscript cookbook containing around 102 handwritten recipes and pasted in newspaper clippings. The newspaper clippings mostly contain information on recipes and cleaning. Additionally, it is a southern cookbook including a variety of meals but there is a large concentration of dessert recipes. The recipes include items like pickle cauliflower, lemon pudding, gingerbread, and donuts.

This collection was purchased by Special Collections and Univeristy Archives in 2023.

The processing, arrangement, and description of the Leesburg(?), Virginia, Manuscript Cookbook was completed in Feburary 2026.
