Kira A. Dietz, Co-Chair
Kira A. Dietz is the Acquisitions and Processing Archivist for Special Collections at Virginia Tech. Her major responsibilities include working with donors and dealers to acquire new materials, managing acquisition and accessioning workflows, overseeing processing and description of collections, corralling the backlog, and assisting with reference, instruction, and outreach. She is also the unofficial “go-to” person for the food history materials in Special Collections, which has led her to a professional and personal interest in the history of cocktails, and she enjoys tinkering with social media as an outreach tool. Kira is an active member of MARAC, SAA, VLA (the Virginia Library Association) and has a BA in English from the University of Delaware, an MA in English from the University of Tennessee, and an MLS from the University of Maryland.
Margaret Turman Kidd, Co-Chair

Margaret Kidd is the Senior Curator for Health Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Sciences Library. Her responsibilities include managing collections related to the health sciences in Special Collections and Archives, overseeing the processes and workflows related to born-digital records, maintaining the collection management system and internal documentation, creating exhibits, and providing reference assistance. Prior to her position at VCU, Kidd was a senior project archivist at the Virginia Historical Society. Kidd is a member of MARAC, serving the organization in various capacities, and SAA. She received a BA in history from Emory & Henry College, an MA in American history from the University of Richmond, and an MS in Information Science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She also completed the Digital Archives Specialist Certificate program in 2016. Kidd’s research interests include the history of Virginia, religion, women, and medicine.
