The ALAV Collection contains personal and official correspondence, financial and legal papers, minute books, organizational and scientific reports, educational publicity, photographs, and artifacts. The ALAV Collection contains exhaustive information on the administrative concerns, educational and fund-raising activities, local level activities and regional offices, and the day-to-day operations of Virginia's key agent in the control and prevention of respiratory diseases. The materials in the ALAV Collection document the growth of the organization, as well as the input of a number of notable Virginians, from the early decades of the twentieth century. The ALAV Collection contains materials of use to researchers interested in medical history, epidemiology, respiratory diseases, and the growth of state and national organizations dedicated to public health.

The Center for Nursing Historical Inquiry archive includes 16 subcollections. Sixteen collections are located in this EAD. NAPNAP, MS-20, has it's own EAD guide. The University of Virginia Health System Marketing Communications collection consists of 5 series. Series I through Series IV contain 737 processed folders in 6 records boxes. The images in this collection were created by and/or for the University of Virginia Health System’s Department of Marketing Communications to document the people, premises, and events of the UVA Health System, the UVA School of Medicine, and the UVA School of Nursing. These four series hold photographic prints, negatives, and slides, and also contain some published materials and assorted Marketing Communications papers and correspondence related to past Marketing Communications publications. The images provide a visual history of the University of Virginia’s work in medical education and medical care throughout the twentieth century. Series V of the collection contains 4 boxes of unprocessed slides, image CDs, and zip disks. At the time of processing some non-Health System materials present with the original acquisition were transferred to the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library and the Arthur J. Morris Law Library.

The collection contains 53 letters exchanged by Dr. Andrew Hart of UVa Hospital and Dr. Richard Harper in Devon, England from 1956 to 1975. In addition to the letters between Dr. Hart and Dr. Harper, the collection includes three journal articles, a letter to the journal editor, preface to Harper's book, Evolutionary Origins of Disease, summary of an unknown book, box list, glossary, and letters between Andrew Hart and Peter Harper, son of Richard Harper.

This Collection contains important reports on the University of Virginia Medical Center from 1972 to 1977. The Collection documents extensive information on the Medical Center in this period, its organization, administration, educational programs, faculty, student, library system, finances, medical center facilities, major activities, graduate program, clinical activities, admission data, etc. Of Particular interest are documents on the Family Practice Primary Care Curriculum that was planned and organized by James W. Craig in 1975. The Collection also includes materials on the Medical Center's expansion project including the purchase of the Towers Hospital.

This collection consists of 178 folders containing photographs from the University of Virginia Department of Medicine (DOM). Images include Housestaff and faculty group photographs (1957-2008), Chief Resident group photographs (1973-2012), and individual Chief Resident portraits (1951-1999). Additional images include two undated group photographs of DOM Department Chairs and a photograph commemorating a class award given to the Class of 1993. The images provide a visual history of the department over a span of six decades. Subjects in the Chief Resident portraits are identified, and some individuals in the group photographs are also identified, though many are unidentified at this time. The images were created by various photographers hired by the University of Virginia Health System.

There are three volumes in the collection. The first is the chapter roll and minutes from 1919 to 1955. The second covers the roll and minutes from 1955 to 1969. The third is a treasurer's ledger covering 1922 to 1978.

This Collection is divided into his major projects including the Turkish-Greek project, the Estonian project, the Kuwait project, the Georgia project, the Islamic- Western Dialogue, PAKH (Psychotherapeutical Working Group for Persons Affected by the Holocaust) project, the Carter Center project, the Chautauqua project, and CSMHI (Center for the Study of Mind and Human Interaction). The collection also includes his papers, review articles of his books and papers, newspaper articles, correspondence, information about meetings and conferences he attended, and recommendation letters for the Nobel Peace Prize.
