This collection contains photographs taken by Arthur E. Scott, a photojournalist and photo-historian for the U.S. Senate. It contains over 5,000 prints and negatives of United States politicians (mainly Senators), political events such as campaigns and inaugurations, and landmarks throughout the Washington, D.C. area, from the mid-1930s to the 1970s. There are also 27 scrapbooks compiled by Arthur E. Scott, primarily consisting of newspaper clippings of Scott's photographs. The collection also contains glass negatives from the 1910s and 1920s that were taken by other photographers.

This collection contains photographs taken by Arthur E. Scott, a photojournalist and photo-historian for the U.S. Senate. Arthur I. Boreman Papers

Personal and business papers of Arthur I. Boreman (1823-1896), lawyer, U.S. senator, circuit court judge, and first governor of West Virginia. The bulk of the collection consists of papers relating to his judgeship and to the law firm of Boreman and Bullocks, Parkersburg, WV. Series include correspondence, notes on cases tried before Judge Boreman, envelope cases of material regarding legal cases in which Boreman was involved, financial material, and political and judicial printed material. Correspondence includes letters to Boreman from Francis H. Pierpont (1866-1867), which concern politics in West Virginia, the admission of Berkeley and Jefferson counties into the state, the Virginia debt, and Reconstruction in Virginia. There is little other material relating to the governorship or political activities. Additional correspondents include J.W. Davis, John J. Davis, D.D.T. Farnsworth, D.H. Strother, J.G. Jackson, Charles J. Faulkner, and E.W. Wilson. Also includes manuscripts of speeches; muster rolls; household accounts; civil and court case papers concerning oil well drilling and sales; railroad property inventories and operation; coal prices, shipping data, and strikes; liquid fuel transportation; and steam and tow boat cargoes, navigation data, and names of boats in service on the Ohio River. In addition, the collection included a book showcasing Gladstone's judicial activism, and has since been transferred within the Special Collections Department. A collection of great breadth within the juvenile criminal justice system, it features several policy efforts supported by William Gladstone, including the Youth Environmental Service Program in the state of Florida.

In addition, the collection includes a legal document pertaining to John Forsyth of Georgia dated 1826, most of which is in French, as well as a free order of passage document given to Pickens to visit Poland, Germany, Switzerland, France, and England dated 1860. This document is in multiple languages.

He served until 1881. The papers include letters of recommendation; congratulations on his election to the Senate; correspondence on West Virginia politics; an editorial letter on the "salary grab;" and letters urging Hereford to run for re-election in 1881.
