Description:

The Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library administers over 13 million manuscripts, 3.6 million items in the University archives, and 325,000 rare books, as well as approximately 5,000 maps, over 4,000 broadsides; more than 250,000 photographs and small prints; over 8,000 reels of microfilm; and substantial holdings of audio recordings, motion picture films, and ephemera.

The major emphasis of the Department’s collections are American history and literature, with additional substantive collections in Virginiana, British literature, African-American history, book arts, the history of sporting and World War I, among others. In addition, the library serves as the University Archives, holding records of historic significance to UVA.

Memory Marks podcast and transcripts, 2021 0.0754 Gigabytes 10 files: 5 pdfs, 5 mp3 files

This collection contains audio files and transcripts created by students as part of ENWR 2520: Writing the Memorial to Enslaved Laborers at UVA in the Fall of 2021. Students were broken into four groups and each created a podcast episode and supplied the transcriptions. Students researched and reflected upon the history of slavery at the University of Virginia—including its connections to present day racism and white supremacy in Charlottesville and beyond. In addition to the four episodes, students also created an audio collage of what they learned from the project.

The University of Virginia School of Law maintains a public archive of news articles on its website that documents and promotes the School's work. It largely consists of stories authored by the School of Law's Communications and Media Relations department. They cover a wide range of topics including, but not limited to, faculty research, student life, major events, alumni/alumnae activities, accolades, curricular developments, and significant policy changes.

The University of Virginia's Law Library published "News You Can Use" to share news about the Library with faculty in the School of Law. The Library usually distributed it through an internal email list. News You Can Use was alternatively called, "Faculty Services: Law Library News for Faculty."
