Professional correspondence, writings, and other papers of Charles Peters, creator and publisher of "The Washington Monthly," a political magazine and website that launched the careers of several Pulitzer Prize-winning and MacArthur Genius Grant-winning authors and editors. Peters was the first Director of Evaluation for the Peace Corps and the organizer of President John F. Kennedy's campaign in West Virginia.

Chilton, William E. (William Edwin), 1858-1939

Scrapbooks, correspondence, business papers, and memorabilia of a prominent Charleston family that were long time owners of the Charleston Gazette. There are papers of W. E. Chilton, Sr., and for his son and grandson, W. E. Chilton, Jr. and W. E. Chilton, III. The papers of Chilton senior include some correspondence, but mostly land papers documenting the coal mining district in Webster and Braxton Counties. There are also scrapbooks, and contracts pertaining to the family newspaper business; and volumes on the education of W. E. Chilton, Jr. at Woodberry, VA Forest School, and at Yale. The military service of the Chiltons is documented by the service papers, photographs, and other material for W. E. Chilton, Jr. and W. E. Chilton, III in World War (WWI) I and World War II (WWII) respectively.

Publications from the Kingwood law office of attorney Charles V. Wehner (12 November 1921 to 11 September 2009). Includes mostly booklets regarding cases before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, or the Supreme Court of Appeals of the United States. There are personal and corporate litigants. Corporate litigants include the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, Carleton Mining and Power Company, Franklin Coal and Coke Company, Freeport Coal Company, Preston County Power Company, Standard Oil Company, Tildesley Coal Company, Victory Coal Company, and the West Virginia Northern Railroad Company. Boxes 1-4 contain court documents (ca. 1907-1965); box 5 contains Buckwheat Festival programs (1992-2013). Charles Wehner was a 1943 graduate of West Virginia University with an A.B. Degree, and received his J.D. Degree from WVU College of Law in 1946. He had a general law practice in Kingwood since 1946, and was joined by his son Richard in 1985. He married Geraldine Pickens in 1946.

Chesney MacCauley Ramage, Surgeon, Photographs and Biography, 1900/2007 0.01 Linear Feet Summary: 1/4 in. (1 folder)

Three photographs and biographical material regarding Chesney MacCauley Ramage, a native of West Milford, West Virginia. After graduating from Fairmont High School (in 1900) and West Virginia University (WVU), he attended John Hopkins University Medical School in Baltimore. He then returned to Fairmont and established a surgical practice, becoming the superintendent and chief surgeon at the Miners' Hospital (Fairmont Emergency Hospital). Photographs include graduating glass of Fairmont High School (1900), Chesney building a hunting lodge (ca. 1904), the WVU Men's Glee Club (ca. 1906 or 1907), and hunting lodge (ca. 1904).
