This collection contains records of the association, such as meeting minutes, budget information, membership records, constitution and bylaws, as well as information about preservation easements and county mills, the organization's promotional materials, newsletter, publications, photographs, and a survey, by questionaire, of the portraits painted before 1914 that are owned and located in Rockbridge County and Lexington, Virginia. The survey was conducted under the auspices of the APVA. Eighteen questionaires have photographs attached. Survey includes the following artists; Ellen Graham Anderson and Charles Willson Peale.

The scrapbook is a genealogical compendium of the Welsh family of Rockbridge County, Virginia and their descendants and includes many family photographs and documents.

This collection consists materials compiled and collected by Matthew "Matt" White Paxton, Jr. The primary subject matter of the collection is Paxton family genealogy, the history of the Rockbridge County, Virginia, and related families including Houston, Walker, White, Brockenbrough, Hopkins, Bowyer, Owen, and Braxton. The collection includes original manuscripts, photographs, and secondary source materials such as notes, articles, clippings, pamphlets, and published materials. The photographs are predominately Paxton family members from the late 19th-mid 20th century. There is one photograph of Matthew Paxton, Sr. taken while a student at Washington and Lee University (1873-1874) as well as photographs of his son, Matthew Paxton, Jr. at Fancy Dress and dressed in military uniform in 1918. There are also cased ambrotypes and daguerreotypes of members of the White and Hopkins families. The collection includes a number of photographs from the Michael Miley Studio.

This collection consists of a photograph of the Andrew Elder House and a copy of the photograph. The Andrew Elder House was later owned by the Armentrout Family and is near Lake Robertson in Rockbridge County, Virginia.

This collections records information on the Rockbridge County families as follows: Rapp, Alphin, Houser, Parsons, Henderson, Reid, Preston, Painter, Turpin, Montgomery, Shorter, Saville, Montgomery, Manspile, Johnston, Braford, Hickok, and Wade. The places included are Rapps Mill store and Post office, and the Rapps Mill Church and school. Also the Rapp Motor Pontiac Co. in the 100 block of South Main Street, Lexington, Virginia.

This collection consists of research files on local and regional cemeteries, especially those found in Rockbridge and Augusta counties in Virginia. The files are arranged alphabetically by name of cemetery and are comprised of both primary and secondary resources.

This collection contains: newspaper clippings about Hurricane Camille; a record of a song recorded by J. Mark Jones about the night of the hurricane; three copies of a report titled "Reaction of Flood Victims in Rockbridge County, Virginia" by a Washington and Lee class in Research Methods and Politics and Sociology; and a poster advertising the 50th anniversary commemoration of Hurricane Camille.

This collection contains brochures, premium books, newspaper supplements, and other advertisements for Rockbridge County fairs and festivals.
