Scope and content:

This collections records information on the Rockbridge County families as follows: Rapp, Alphin, Houser, Parsons, Henderson, Reid, Preston, Painter, Turpin, Montgomery, Shorter, Saville, Montgomery, Manspile, Johnston, Braford, Hickok, and Wade. The places included are Rapps Mill store and Post office, and the Rapps Mill Church and school. Also the Rapp Motor Pontiac Co. in the 100 block of South Main Street, Lexington, Virginia.

Deed giving their estate to John A. Rapp and James B. Rapp, all of Rockbridge County, Virginia, August 7, 1879. Includes chart of names related to the Rapp family.

Includes a newspaper article and an obituary for Dr. Aubrey A. Houser, original photos and genealogy on the Alphin family of Botetourt County, Virginia (Horace, Thurman, Guy, Richard, Elizabeth). Original photos of John Henderson, obituaries of Jacque Braford, Henry Hickok, A. Nash Johnston III, O. R. and William P. Painter, Beatrice and Fred Preston, and Geneva Witt. Photocopy photos of the Edward and Ada Montgomery family and genealogy.

Mathais (1808-1880) and Mary Saville (1814-1888) Rapp of Rapps Mill in Rockbridge County, Virginia.

Sarah Beulah Rapp Parsons was the mother of James S. Parsons. The school group could be from the Gilmore Mills community.
