Abstract Or Scope
Agricultural surveys taken of West Virginia counties during 1915-1916 and the late 1930s through the late 1960s; counties include: Greenbrier, Marshall, Jackson, Randolph, Harrison, Mineral, Hampshire, Morgan, Jefferson, Berkley, and Monroe. Most of the collection is comprised of individual farm surveys or inventories, both bound and loose manuscripts. Information about many of the counties' farms was utilized for a 1955 West Virginia Feed Production Study and a 1969 Rural Development Study, which was conducted by students at West Virginia University for the Department of Agricultural Economics. Series include: 1) Farm Surveys (1915-1942), 2) Records for a Rural Development Study (1955-1969), and 3) Miscellaneous Papers.

Photographs are black and white and date from the 1940s; subjects of photographs include WVU sports teams, World War II veterans attending WVU, Fred Schaus (WVU basketball coach), Leland Byrd (WVU athletic director), and Bobby Jackson and "The Juggling Jacksons". Also contains a prospectus regarding the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts (ca. 1960).

Football programs are scattered and incomplete in the range from 1940-2001, although there is a concentration for the 1961-1967 seasons; basketball programs are similarly scattered and incomplete in the range from 1950-2001, with the exception of the 2000-2001 season. Most programs are for individual games although there are a few guides for entire seasons as well. Miscellaneous items (box 1, folder 1) includes a program for a Willie Akers Appreciation Dinner (1983), among other items.

Proposals, plans, and correspondence regarding West Virginia University building projects. Includes specifications for Woodburn Hall (1873) and blueprints for the north wing (1897), specifications for the Evansdale Library (1978), and renovation of Colson Hall (1978). There are also floor plans for Purinton House with a sketch of the exterior (ca. 1905). Other items include maps and drawings pertaining to east Morgantown (1901) and the WVU Campus (1971), and several blank diplomas for different schools and colleges within the University. The correspondence is from WVU President Jerome Raymond to architects competing for the contract to design an armory, mechanical hall, and a library with a museum (1899/03/16).
