Personal correspondence deals mainly with law practice; politics; the Tidewater and Deepwater Railway companies; appointment as Regent of West Viriginia University in 1887; one ALS from S. B. Brown requesting information about Hon. John Echols for use in a history of the Virginia Convention of 1861, also, copy of information sent in reply.

This is the third accession of the papers of Andrew Nelson Campbell. Mr. Campbell was an attorney in Monroe County, W. Va. He served in the Confederate Army and was a graduate of the Washington and Lee University Law School. He represented Monroe County as a Delegate in the State Legislature, 1872, and was a member of the Board of Regents of West Virginia University. He was, also, Judge of the 10th Judicial Circuit, 1888-1896.

Business and official papers of Monongalia sheriff, John M. Brand and his deputy, William N. Brand, 1861-1872; letter from E. I. Moore of Woodburn Seminary; class prophecy, June 1898 by Friend E. Clark of West Virginia University; and diaries kept by Miss Willa Brand during a European trip, 1913, and a journey through the British Isles in 1924.

Personal and genealogical papers of the Dean of the WVU College of Engineering from 1911 to 1932. The papers deal with academic pursuits including the controversy over the reorganization of the Engineering College in 1931-32, and his social and professional activities. Four boxes contain genealogical notes and history on some of the first Ohio Valley families including the Wickliffe, Harden, Monroe, Gambrill, and Jones families. Glass plate negatives of West Virginia University Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station projects and other subjects. There are pictures of mostly crops, including potatoes and tobacco, and some of livestock. Other images include single plates of Morgantown, Woodburn Circle, a bridge, and of the "campus from the Station building". Related images can be found in Archives and Manuscripts (A&M) Collection No. 5027.

This collection includes materials from Dr. Emory L. Kemp's career of researching, documenting, and preserving historic structures. Kemp was a practicing civil engineer from 1952-1959, then taught civil engineering, historic preservation, and the history of technology from 1962-2003 at West Virginia University. He served as an expert consultant for the preservation of many historic engineering structures, including bridges, waterways, and mills. He also published regularly and remained active in several professional organizations.

Papers of Ethel Fike Friend, a public school teacher who spent much of her life in Bruceton Mills, West Virginia. Includes books, pamphlets, correspondence, church records, photographs, and writings by Ethel and others mostly documenting the genealogy and churches of Preston County, West Virginia and Garrett County, Maryland, with specific attention to Sand Spring Church of God in Friendsville, Maryland.
