Italian architect Gae Aulenti's ability to transform historic public buildings into museum spaces is documented in the Gae Aulenti Architectural Collection by newspaper and magazine articles, biographical information, and her conceptual computer-drawn designs for the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, California.

The Hilde Weström Architectural Collection consists of biographical information about Weström's career and personal life, original watercolors she painted after her retirement, articles written by her and about her, photographs of Weström and her buildings, architectural drawings for nine of her projects, and some professional conference papers presented by other women at the 1984 UIFA meeting in Berlin. Weström (b. 1912) was an architect in Berlin, Germany.

The IAWA Small Collections was compiled from a variety of sources by Special Collections staff for use in reference and research. The collection consists primarily of biographical materials for women architects, architectural historians, and designers including curriculum vitas, firm brochures, exhibit notices, photographs, and publications. Drawings, sketches, course notes, correspondence, and other materials pertaining to architectural collections are also present.

Horton, Inge S.
Inge Horton was born in Germany. She was a planner with the Planning Department of the City and County of San Francisco, California, from 1983 to 1998; member of the Board of Advisors for the International Archive of Women in Architecture. Her papers consist of architectural studies written while in Germany; presentations made at various women's architectural organization meetings, including the International Union of Women Architects; a curriculum vitae; and research files on early women architects in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The International Union of Women Architects (UIFA) was founded in 1963 by Solange d'Herbez de la Tour. The organization aims to promote women in the profession by increasing the public's awareness of contributions made to the field by women and by creating a network of international colleagues. UIFA encourages the exchange of information through its regular conferences hosted by participating chapters from around the globe.
