Index Card Notes: To the Virginia Legislature. The undersigned petitioners, citizens of Whetzel County, Pray that your honorable body will appropriate a sum of money, sufficient to make a good clay turnpike, from the North-Western Road, by the way of Fairmont, to New Martinsville, in Wetzel County. A road made of this route, will pass through 3 counties, the while length will be 70 miles; and, your petitioners are advised that $400 per mile would make it a good road...etc...it would be a feeder to the North-Western Road.
