Background
- Scope and content:
-
Collection consists of photographs mounted on edge notched cards. The Tanganyika Project was a joint effort between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and West Virginia University, College of Agriculture to help improve agriculture practices in East Africa. This was an exchange program with Tanganyikan (now Tanzania) students attending WVU to study in the College of Agriculture and WVU faculty visiting Tanganyika offering technical assistance. The program also included projects in Kenya and Uganda. Photographs in this collection include images of students, faculty, program events, as well as images of agriculture and structures from Tanganyika and other locations in Africa. These photographs date to the years 1961-1968. Some photographs are labeled on the back with locations, subjects, date taken, etc.
