Background
- Scope and content:
-
Papers of John F. Stasny, who served on the faculty of the West Virginia University English Department from 1955 to 1990. Papers include professional and personal correspondence; newspaper clippings; programs and other ephemera from events such as academic conferences and theatrical, musical, and poetry performances; photographs; a reel of film; and a scrapbook of well wishes compiled for Stasny's 60th birthday.
Stasny was the co-founder, with fellow WVU Professor of English Gordon Pitts, of the Victorian Poetry academic journal. Publication of the journal began in 1963; the journal is the subject of much of the correspondence and newspaper clippings in this collection.
Oversize material includes sheet music.
