Papers of Malcolm Ater and Commercial Comics, Inc. These are photocopied facsimiles of original documents. Includes mostly business and some personal correspondence with John Patterson, Governor of Alabama (1957-1974); there is discussion of politics, and also of work by Ater for Patterson's gubernatorial campaigns. There is some duplication of this correspondence within the collection. There is also an outline for a pictorial biography of governor John Patterson (1958), a listing of Commercial Comics projects with descriptions for period ca. 1950-1970 (ca. 1970s), and a listing of Commercial Comics business records (undated). In addition, there are color copies of a few publications, including: a November 4th, 1950 issue of Vet Times; a Life magazine story on Commercial Comics with comics; and other articles regarding the involvement of comics in politics.
