Typescript authored by Maggie Metheny regarding her family travelling from West Virginia to Kansas by covered wagon in 1892. Metheny (maiden name Rhodes) was 5 years old at the time of the trip; the typescript is based on her recollections as well as stories told to her by family members. The Rhodes family left their home in Parkersburg, West Virginia to homestead in Kansas. Metheny's account details the journey and the family's time living in Kansas, after which they returned to West Virginia by a route that took them through Colorado and Nebraska. Metheny dictated her recollections to her son, Herman E. Metheny; also included is correspondence regarding a 1956 trip by Herman to Kansas to visit the site of the Rhodes family homestead. In addition, there is a hand-drawn map of the homestead and photocopies of photographs of the Rhodes family. Document includes a total of 54 leaves, including cover page, text in typescript (pages 1-47), and photocopies of documents and photographs (pages 48-53).
