Background
- Scope and content:
-
Photographs and other material regarding Louise Dennison and the Dennison family of Davis and Clarksburg. Formats of photographs include cartes-de-visite, cabinet cards, and gelatin silver prints. The majority of photographs are identified.
Louise Dennison material includes photographs, correspondence, and documents (1897-1920, undated). The majority of this material regards Louise Dennison's time working for the U.S. Treasury as a typist (1919-1920).
There is also material regarding her parents, Gabriel and Lillie (Wheeler) Dennison, including correspondence (1896), medical records (1896-1897), and telegrams (1910-1912).
The bulk of the collection consists of photographs that were passed down through the Dennison family. These are portraits of persons from families that may be related to the Dennisons. Family names include Ward, Herriett, Strickler, Davis, Harrison, and Bane.
The collection also includes additional information from the donor based on his research.
See also A&M 3897 for additional material regarding Louise Dennison and the Dennison family.
