Goudy, a corporal in the First West Virginia Volunteer Infantry (undated; see A&M 922, "Goudy, William M., Soldier. Civil War Diaries"); March 11, 1876 and March 23, 1878 issues of the New York Ledger; August 30, 1888 issue of the Wheeling Weekly Intelligencer; and of the cover of the Knoxville Journal-Tribune War Souvenir Edition Issued by Tennessee Girls' Relief Societies (undated).
