Records regarding Kathryn McGee and the first Rhododendron Girls State program at Jackson's Mill, West Virginia, a "citizenship training school" held during summer months and sponsored by the American Legion Auxilliary. Includes mainly Girls State records, such as publications, election records, programs, photographs, and other materials.

This series contains biographical information on Kathryn McGee (throughout the collection Kathryn McGee is also referred to by her married name, Kathryn McGee White, or any variation on her maiden or married name) and her participation in the first Rhododendron Girls State program in 1941.

Most materials in this series pertain to Kathryn McGee's involvement with Girls State, particularly in 1941 when she was elected the first "Governor". Records from 1941 include programs and publications from Girls State, correspondence, campaign materials from McGee's run for Governor, and materials regarding Governor Neely's visit. Collection also includes materials from McGee's involvement in other years of Girls State, including handbooks, certificates, and a dedication speech for the 50th anniversary of Girls State in 1991.
