- A biographical sketch of Daniel S. Morris, founder of some of Taylor County's earliest newspapers, including the BROAD-AX, the CENTRAL STANDARD, the FAMILY VISITOR, the WEEKLY-GAZETTE, the VANGUARD, and the VIRGINIA PATRIOT. Morris published his newspaper at Prunytown from 1846-1861 under the several different titles listed above. During the Civil War he served the Confederacy by editing and publishing an official newspaper in Richmond.
