Material regarding the death and legacy of Robert F. Munn, Dean of West Virginia University Libraries from 1957 to 1986. Collection includes press releases announcing Munn's death; correspondence (mainly condolences); memorial programs; and a funeral register. Included in the content of these materials are a number of biographical sketches of Munn's life and career. Also included is the West Virginia University Order of Vandalia medal posthumously awarded to Munn for his achievements as a librarian, scholar of Appalachia, and world-wide consultant on library development.
Addendum of 2004-02-20 (2 pages in 1 folder) contains email correspondence from William Jucksch, who served with Munn during WWII. Jucksch describes their service in the Western Theater in the 71st Infantry Division and wishes to invite Munn to a reunion of their unit. Also contains a response from Penny Pugh (at the time the Head of the Reference Department) informing Jucksch of Munn having passed away.
Addendum of 2009-05-20 (2 items in 1 folder) includes a program and an announcement regarding the Robert F. Munn Undergraduate Library Scholars Award. This award was established in Fall 2008 in honor of Munn's service to the university.
