Pocket Knife, 1940/1949

Scope and content:

1-pocket knife that has a plastic yellow cover fastened to the body of the knife on both the front and the back. The front yellow plastic cover has "MANHO(?)AN FLOUR FEED CO./ of Buffalo, Inc./CL 7350-901 William St." printed in black. There are two knifes that fold in and out of the body of the pocket knife. The first knife is sharp and angled and has "COLONIAL" engraved on the base. The second knife is smaller, straight and blunt and has "MADE IN THE U.S.A". The pocket knife belonged to Armand J.Galfo, U.S. Air Force Reserves officer and Assistant Dean of the School of Education at the College of William and Mary between 1965 and 1966. It measures approximately 3in. (body), 2.5in. (first knife), and 1.75in. (second knife) and is in poor condition. Some of the text on the yellow plastic front cover has been rubbed off. The knives and the place where they fold into the body of the pocket knife are severely tarnished. The knives have rust colored stains at their base. There is a rust colored stain at the tip of the back of the second knife and the edge of the first knife has been chipped. Located in University Artifact Collection, UA Metals. UA 2007.063.05
