The papers of George Fisher Harrison contain three of his essays or orations presented while a student at the College of William and Mary between 1840-1843. One oration on ancient history was delivered on July 4, 1841, an essay on "Woman" was read before the Franklinian Society on December 11, 1841, and a Valedictory to the Tau Chi Society was read on July 4, 1843.

George Fisher Harrison attended the College of William and Mary in 1840-1841 for his A.B. degree and 1842-1843 for the L.B. He was from Cumberland, Virgina and was the son of Carter H. Harrison. The Faculty Minutes, 1836-1846 volume, p. 303 contains the following entry for 25 April 1842: "Messrs. Samuel J. Booker and George F. Harrison having been on the morning of the 24th of April engaged in an affray with pistols in the College yard, it is resolved that they both have leave to withdraw from College."
