Jefferson Goblet Award, 1976

Scope and content:

A small silver goblet that is mounted on a pedestal. The front of the goblet has an inscription that reads "HOWARD M. SCAMMON/ FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THEATRE IN VIRGINIA/VIRGINIA THEATRE CONFERENCE/ OCTOBER 1976." The bottom of the pedestal has engravings in all four corners. The top left corner has "Jefferson" engraved in cursive script and the bottom right corner has "Goblet" engraved in cursive script. The bottom left corner has "STIEF PEWTER" engraved in block script and the top right corner has "P65" engraved in block script. The goblet measures approximately 4.5in. and is in fair condition. The outside of the goblet has white residue all over it. There are tarnish stains in the crevices of the circle where the goblet base is attached to the pedestal. The inside of the goblet has a considerable amount of dust as well as a dark ring near the bottom of the goblet. The bottom of the pedestal is also tarnished.
