Vinyard Coin Collection: 8 Reales Spanish Milled Dollar, 1796

Scope and content:

1796 Spanish Milled Dollar, minted under the crown of Charles IV. This coin is of the "Modified Pillar" design which features Charles' portrait on the face; while two pillars flank the Spanish Coat of Arms on the reverse. The coin has a hole drilled to the left of the number 7 on the face, as well as a large filled crack to the right of the number 6. The details are mostly worn away but some important features can still be made out. 39mm. Very worn condition. Gift of Chris Vinyard.
