Background

Scope and content:

This collection is made up of nine boxes, which contain sheet music, photographs, scrapbooks, newspaper and magazine clippings, correspondence and other documents. Contents are about Christine King's career, created by her, or from her own personal collection.

Biographical / historical:

Christine Chenoweth was born March 14th, 1895 in West Virginia to. She moved to Richmond, Va as a child and graduated from Richmond Women's College (now Westhampton College at the Univerity of Richmond) in 1915, with degrees in piano and voice. She studies in New York and went on to have a professional career as a singer and composer, then became the head of the voice department at Thomas Jefferson High School. She died in April of 1986 in Richmond.

Donated to the University of Richmond Archives by a relative of Christine King.
