The first movement of Trio I is based on the opening measures of Joseph Haydn's Symphony in F Minor,Hob. I:49. The last movement of Trio III is a set of variations on the folksong "Alle meine Entchen schwimmen auf dem See." The themes of the remaining trios have not been identified.
