This collection reflects Mortimer M. Caplin's (Law 1940) life during his years as a student at the University of Virginia and as Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service. It consists primarily of awards, photographs, certificates, articles, interviews, and newspaper clippings.
This first installment of the Mortimer M. Caplin Collection consists of memorabilia: three signed letters of President John F. Kennedy, photographs, certificates, resolutions, plaques. was received by Special Collections in September 2004

This collection includes Mortimer Caplin's four bound volumes of his speeches (1961-1964), three bound volumes of articles written by Caplin, several scrapbooks that cover his career as IRS Commissioner, some correspondence, photographs, certificates, and several books and bound government documents.
