Margaret "Maggie" Schwartzhaupt friendship album, 1873-1876, totaling 0.03 cubic feet, is a blank book presented to Miss Schwartzhaupt of Baltimore by her father on Christmas Day, 1873. Every page is filled with holographic sentiments, each in a unique hnd, from her friends and family between 1873 and 1896. Some pages are embellished with illustrations and Victorian scrapbook material. Tipped to the last pages of the album are newspaper articles mentioning family marriages, births, and deaths. Several of the messages are written in German, though most are English. Of note is that all of these messages are writen entirely in verse, several accompanied by exceptional calligraphic elements. Messages are from family, friends, parents, and one by Maggies' son (1896)
