Transcription: [double-headed eagle] The Schaffer Collection of Russian Imperial Art Treasures ROCKEFELLER CENTER, NEW YORK April 9, 1936 #1166 Very fine silver triptych frame of translucent white enamel applied over a chased (guilloché) surface, framed in a conventionalized leaf border of meticulous carving. The actual openings for the portraits, two rectangular ones in the outer panels and octagonal one in the center, are placed with the formalized precision of the classic taste. Exquisite borders, festoons with ribbons, together with rosettes and beadwork, complete the ensemble. Signed by "Carl Fabergé", celebrated court jeweler to the Russian Imperial family, who is today referred to as the "Cellini of the nineteenth century" because of the perfection of his craftsmanship. From the Alexander Palace at Tsarskoye Selo.
