Biographical / historical:

James Brooke Pettis (1897-1965) was a 1930 graduate of the Medical College of Virginia. He served as the superintendent of Western State Hospital in Staunton, VA from 1946-1963. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWI and WWII and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
