Scope and content:

A 1960s era 5 x 7 black and white photograph of S. Douglass Cater, journalist, educator, and aid to President Lyndon B. Johnson. In 1965, Cater was one of the first feature speakers of the Contact Committee at Washington and Lee University. The theme of the event was 'The American Experience and its Implications for the Individual Citizen, the American Nation, and the World.'
