Background

Scope and content:

This collection includes unpublished typescripts of two books by McClure, Philosophy in Hellenistic Athens and Philosophy and Youth. It also contains several typescript essays and addresses.

Biographical / historical:

Matthew Thompson McClure was a member of the Washington and Lee University class of 1904. He later became a professor of philosophy at the University of Illinois.
