This collection consists of one commission document (dated June 27, 1863) that appoints Thomas W. White a second lieutenant with the Abingdon Virginia Militia. The document is signed by Governor John Letcher.

Thomas Wilson White was born in 1846 in Abingdon, Virginia. He graduated VMI in 1867 and was a New Market cadet. He also was a farmer. White died in 1907 in Abingdon.
