Background
- Scope and content:
-
This collection consists of a land indenture between John and Sarah B. Nichols and William H. Moore.
- Biographical / historical:
-
On 17 October 1851 John (1802-6 May 1884) and Sarah B. (1806-17 April 1880) Nichols sold 107 acres in the Waterford, Virginia area to William H. Moore (fl. 1810-1859). William married Laura Moore (fl. 1812-1859) and they had at least two children. On 29 August 1853 William sold his land to Joseph Gibson (1797-after 1860), transferring the deed on 7 April 1859.
Little is known about John or Sarah Nichols. Tax information indicates they lived in Virginia their entire lives, had several children, and were farmers.
