Scope and content:

An 1874 certificate establishing the Melrose Grange, No. 215 of the Patrons of Husbandry. The certificate is signed by the master and secretary of the National Grange and the Virginia State Grange and includes seals for each Grange.

Biographical / historical:

The Patrons of Husbandry is a national social organization that promotes agriculture and the interests of farmers. The Melrose Grange, No. 215 of the National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry was formally established in 1874 in the area of Melrose in Rockingham County. It is unclear when the Melrose Grange dissolved.
