This collection consists of a Baldwin's Department Store advertisement card, ca. early 1930s, welcoming new students to the State Teachers College.
- Biographical / historical:

Sarah Evelyn Corbin, of Windsor, Virginia was born in 1916 to Fred M. and Doris Daughtrey Corbin. In 1933, Corbin enrolled as a student in the State Teachers College in Farmville, Virginia and earned her diploma in 1935. While a student at State Teachers College, she was a member of the Granddaughters Club, YWCA, and the Athletic Association. After graduation, Corbin taught in Smithfield, Franklin, and Norfolk, Virginia. In the late 1940s, she returned to by then-Longwood College and earned her bachelor's degree in 1950.

The item in this collection originally belonged to Sarah Corbin when she was a student at State Teachers College. It was later acquired by Nancy Shelton during her tenure with the Longwood University Department of Alumni Relations. It is unknown when the collection was transferred to the Greenwood Library Archives.
