Scope and content:

The items in this collection, which date from 1914, consist of grade slips and an honor roll certificate issued to Harriet Johns.

Biographical / historical:

Harriet Johns of Farmville, Virginia was born in 1893 to Reuben Benjamin and Agnes Penultima Johns. In 1909, Johns enrolled as a student in then-State Normal School for Women, and earned her diploma in 1915. While a student at State Normal School for Women, Johns was a member of the Pierian Literary Society and the German Club.

Custodial history:

The items in this collection belonged to Harriet Johns when she was a student at State Normal School for Women. They were subsequently acquired by Nancy Shelton during her tenure with the Longwood University Department of Alumni Relations. It is unknown when this collection was transferred to the Greenwood Library Archives.
