Dr. James Minor (1785-1828) of Sunning Hill, Louisa County, Virginia, was the son of Maj. Garrett Lewis Minor and Mary Overton. He married Mary Minor in 1813 and was the father of Maria Louisa (Magruder), Virginia (Rawlings), and Julia Ann (Holladay).
