Abstract:
Vintage turn-key ice cream disher (aka scoop), c.1878. This disher has a faded stamp that reads, in part: "Clewell's / Pat. / Nov (12?) / (1878?). Given the history of this and similar items, it could be from as late as the 1910s. This item is not an exact match (handles differ), but it similar to a disher held by the National Museum of American History.
