Background

Scope and content:

This collection consists of a bound book of hand-written recipes and clipped recipes from newspapers, an unbound notebook of hand-written recipes, and loose recipes; both handwritten and clipped. The majority of the hand-written recipes in the bound book are primarily focused on baking, while the clippings included cover a wide vareity of recipes such as salads, dressings, main dishes, and desserts. The unbound book also provides an assortment of recipes in areas such as baking, salads, and meat dishes. The loose recipes also offer a wide veriety dishes and information. Several of the clippings provide dates and have adverttisements and other news attached. Content Warning: This collection contains materials gathered that users may find distressing or offensive, including racist language and imagery in included newspaper clippings. This collection was purchased by Virginia Tech Special Collections and Archives in August of 2020.
