Background

Scope and content:

This collection contains a handbill called "Women Do Want the Vote" from the Equal Suffrage League of Virginia, located in Richmond, that list organizations of women and men that support women votes. Organizations include the International Council of Women, International Council of Nurses, and the National Educational Association.

Biographical / historical:

The Equal Suffrage League of Virginia was founded in 1909 in Richmond. The group traveled around Virginia lobbying for womens voting rights, which included distributing handbills and literature. The group disbanded in 1920, after the 19th admendment was put into place.
