Background

Scope and content:

The collection consists of two letters and three poems involving the Wade Deitrick Family. The first letter in the collection, dated 1864, is written by C. L. Wade to her daughter, Bettie A. D. Wade, discussing news from home and family as well as plans for Bettie's wedding. In 1887, Jack Wade wrote the second letter to his sister, Alice, from Baltimore explaining that he would not be able to attend Alice's wedding, and reports on local news. One of the poems is written by Jack Wade to his sister Alice, and the other two poems are written to George Deitrick from Charlotte Wade, and Sarah and George Anderson.
