"A List of the Portraits and Pieces of Statuary in the Virginia State Library" was compiled by Earl G. Swem and published in the Bulletin of the Virginia State Library in April 1913 (vol. 6, no. 2). This bulletin lists the titles of portraits and pieces of statuary housed at the Virginia State Library and also contains a brief biographical note for the subject of each. An updated "A List of the Portraits and Pieces of Statuary in the Virginia State Library" was published in January, April 1920 (vol. 13, no. 1,2). This version includes photographs of the artwork and busts.
